Yonatan Hernandez

Yonatan “Yogi” Hernandez is a retired U.S. Navy Chief with 22 years of service as an Aviation Structural Mechanic (Safety Equipment), specializing in aircraft maintenance, ejection seats, and life support systems, while mentoring and developing leaders across the fleet. He is now pursuing Aeronautical Engineering at San Diego City College and advocates for veterans, immigrant students, and underserved communities through the Student Senate for California Community Colleges. As host of the MIL2VET Podcast, he amplifies veteran voices and shares critical resources for those transitioning from service. After graduation, Yogi will continue to bridge his technical expertise with policy work to expand educational and career opportunities for veterans and underrepresented communities. Fun fact: he is a first-generation immigrant from Mexico City who enjoys organizing fundraising events that support veteran scholarships.
